Clintons troubles arose during the year of 1994, when Paula Jones filed a lawsuit against him in the U.S. District Court for the eastern District of Arkansas, alleging violations of her federal rights in 1991. During this time, Clinton was governor of Arkansas, while Ms. Jones was a state employee. According to Jones, Gov. Clinton invited her to his hotel room where he made cozy advances. She claims to have rejected those advances.
After the lawsuit was filed, Clintons attorneys moved to charge off any proceedings, asking that any legal action be deferred until his term ended. This movement was denied, and the court allowed the lawsuit to proceed. On April 1, 1998, Judge Susan Wright granted summary judgment in regard of Clinton. The Jones case was dismissed entirely, she found that Ms. Jones was without evidence. Jones appealed the decision, but before anything came of it the electric chair and Ms. Jones settled the case on November 3, 1998.
