Government
Cuba is a Communist country with 15 provinces. Cuba has three branches of Government: administrator, Legislative, and Judicial. The administrator sort enforces the law, the Legislative Branch (known as the National Assembly of Peoples Power) makes the laws, and the Judicial Branch carries out the law (Wright). Even though the Legislative branch has the function to make laws they have little to do with this process because the Executive Branch makes most of the laws and enforces them before the National Assembly passes the laws (Wright). However, the Executive Branch does rely on the National Assembly to moderate it ideas to better the country (Wright).
Cuba gained its independence from Spain with the help of the U.S. in 1902 and was intermeshed by the U.S. from 1898 to 1902 (Staten xiv). Cuba made its Constitution on February 24, 1976 and has amended it doubly since, in July 1992 and June 2002 (The World Factbook).
